Hematology

Hematology is a medical specialty that encompasses the science of blood, blood-producing organs and blood disorders. Hematology includes the genesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood and blood-borne diseases. Blood contains most of the energy, nourishment and defense our bodies need to sustain life. In addition to treating cancer, a hematologist treats patients with blood clotting disorders such as hemophilia, anemia, Gaucher’s disease, myelodysplasia and myelodysplastic syndrome.

At the Beverly Hills Cancer Center hematology department, our hematologists study, diagnose and treat cancer-related blood disorders. They work with medical technologists who analyze blood in our onsite lab. They also use our state-of-the-art electronic medical records (EMR) system to speed the delivery of hematologic reports.
